Retro Systems in Valley Center is changing its name to Hornet Cutting Systems as it looks to capture more potential market share.
The company manufacturers industrial cutting equipment for aerospace and other industries.
Company president Brice Turner, who has been there since 2013, says the move is designed to more accurately reflect what the business does.
While it did retrofit equipment when it started in 2004, for many years now it has focused on designing and manufacturing custom machines.
“ We found by talking to the marketplace and our partners that for some the name Retro Systems was a barrier to purchasing a new machine because it didn’t match what we really do,” Turner says. “We’ve had a long consistency of the Hornet brand here in Valley Center, so it makes sense to focus on the brand of Hornet Cutting Systems that has served our customers for the last 13 years.”
The rebranding, he says, is part of a plan to invest more in communicating to the market to set itself up to win new customers as it continues to grow its local operations.
